I’ve written two books: Lyndon Johnson: A Poem, which will come out next spring, and That Peculiar Affirmative: On the Social Life of Poems. I teach high school English and live in Durham, NC.

Editing

I founded At Length magazine in 2003 and both ran the magazine and edited its poetry section from 2003-2023.

Reviewing

I was Slate’s poetry critic for four years. I was The Kenyon Review’s critic at large for two years. And I’ve written essays and reviews for a lot of other publications.

Also

I’ve co-hosted a couple of podcasts, including “Advice from an Unknown Poet.”
